Great Missenden Parish Council is delighted to present Through the Lens — a fascinating photographic exhibition capturing village life in 1974 and again in 1994 throughout the parish.
Originally organised by the Parish Council and undertaken by Amersham College, the project documented everyday life across Great Missenden, Prestwood and Ballinger & South Heath, creating a remarkable visual record of the community, its people and the changing face of the local area.
The exhibition features photographs showing local residents, schools, shops, pubs and streets as they once were. From historic scenes along the A413 to images of village life at The Cross Keys pub, the collection offers a nostalgic glimpse into a rural way of life that has changed significantly over the decades.
Many of the faces and places captured are no longer with us, but the photographs preserve the spirit and character of the Parish and its close-knit community. The updated images from the 1994 project will also be on display, offering a unique comparison across twenty years of village life.
The exhibition will take place at in the Committee Room of Great Missenden Memorial Hall, Great Missenden, from Friday 29th May to Sunday 31st May, 10am–4pm daily.
Do come along and see if you recognise yourself, friends or family among this wonderful collection of local memories.
